ROYAL OAK SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER CLOSET

Our mission is to help young people and families in our area by providing them products needed for everyday hygiene.

Teen Clean Closet seeks out donations of new toiletry and hygiene items, collects those donations and redistributes them via a system of mini closets located in our local schools and community locations, Royal Oak High School, Royal Oak Middle School, Churchill Community High School, the Metro Detroit Youth Club- Royal Oak, Royal Oak Public Library and Royal Oak Community Senior Center.

People (young and older alike) who need these types of items are given access to them in a no questions asked environment via an adult liaison in the building. Additionally, Teen Clean Closet serves as a community resource for several non profits in the area, who are able to reach out for our assistance when needed.

As we move into 2024, we are adding a few items to several Closets. To start, laundry sheets. They will help to replace heavy containers of laundry soap. We had previously had some donated and the feedback has been very positive and we had a few people ask for them. So here we are. We will also put conventional laundry products out for those who are more comfortable with that. Many of the community that use our Closets are walkers and can struggle with heavy items. On Monday evening, Teen Clean Closet was one of nine non profits awarded a grant through the American Rescue Pan Act appropration. Today we restocked The Senior Community Center Closet. Nearly every time we are there we meet someone new. Today a gentleman took a few items and thanked us for providing such a service.
